Frequently Asked Payroll Service Questions
I forgot to pay someone, or paid them the wrong amount. Can I fix it?
If you haven't approved the payroll yet, you can delete and re-enter their paycheck. You do not need to delete the entire payroll; you can delete just their check.
If you've already approved the payroll and forget to pay someone or paid them too little, you can run another payroll, and pay just that one employee (if you've also paid payroll taxes for the period, don't forget to approve any additional amounts). There is no additional charge for running extra payrolls.
If you paid someone too much, you may be able to correct it. If they have direct deposit but the payment hasn't already gone through, or you pay with a paper check, you can delete the incorrect paycheck and enter a new one. If you also paid payroll taxes already, the overpayment will show up as a credit for the next payroll. If the employee has direct deposit and the payment has already been credited to their account, you will have to make an adjustment to their pay in the next payroll you process. You can set up a reminder in your to-do list for this.
